100 entries for the Voorschoten Awards

The submission period for the Voorschoten Awards has closed. A total of 100 entries were received. On Friday, June 30, the jury met to select the nominees and winners from among the entries.

There are three categories: sports, culture, and volunteer work. In each category, the jury selected three nominees. A youth award will also be presented.

Strong field of competitors

“This is truly an initiative that shows what Voorschoten stands for,” says Councilman Hans van der Elst. “It’s remarkable that we received so many nominations for the very first edition—it’s really wonderful. The list was packed with great reasons for nomination; what a strong field of participants. Fortunately, as the jury, we were able to reach a consensus on the nominees, but it wasn’t easy. Actually, everyone on the list of candidates deserves an Award; but of course, there can only be one winner per category.”

Awards Show on Friday evening, September 8

In August, the organization will announce which candidates have been nominated. In the meantime, preparations are underway for the Awards Show on Friday evening, September 8. On that night, the final winners will be announced and will receive their awards at the Kruispuntkerk. It promises to be a spectacular event, featuring music, dance, and much more. The organization would like to thank everyone who submitted a candidate.

Panel of Experts

The expert jury consists of Hans van der Elst (Alderman for Culture), Hubert Schokker (Alderman for Sports), Femke Hameetman (Director of the Dordrechts Museum), Hans Douw (sports columnist), and Yvonne van Balen (Director of the Voorschoten voor Elkaar welfare organization). In addition, a youth jury panel was established through Jongerenwerk, which provided its input to the jury prior to the final deliberations.
