When it comes to construction or renovation, it is the municipality’s responsibility to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the rules. Among other things, the municipality checks for compliance with: building codes, working hours, a safe work environment, noise, vibrations, and waste management. Good to know:

• If the municipality believes that a construction or renovation project is not being carried out in accordance with the rules, it may halt the project.
• The municipality may also close off access to the building.

Municipal inspectors conduct the inspection. They are authorized to:

• Entering buildings without permission.
• Request information.
• View business information and documents and make copies of them.
• Searching items, such as opening packages and taking things with you.

In any case, the municipality asks that you:

• A clear description of the report.
• Whether you are experiencing any inconvenience.
