VS-1046-2 Applying for a Sewer Connection Using eHerkenning

Important Information

Is your home or business not yet connected to the sewer system? Or have you built a new home or commercial building? If so, you should apply for a sewer connection with the municipality. The municipality will arrange for the connection of the public sewer system to your private property.

Good to know:

  • The municipality will install the connection up to the property line of your lot. You are responsible for installing the sewer system on your own property.
  • There are two types of sewer connections: combined systems and separate systems. Would you like to connect to a separate system? If so, you’ll need a dual connection for draining both wastewater and stormwater.
  • The installation depth is determined by the municipality. It depends, in part, on the elevation of the main gas and water lines.
  • In the municipality, a green PVC pipe is used for the HWA clean water connection, and a gray PVC pipe is used for the DWA wastewater connection.
  • Each applicant (owner) must install a drain trap in the pipe on their own property, immediately behind the property line.

To ensure better and faster service, the municipality requests, at a minimum:
  • The number of connections involved and the type of sewer connection (separate or combined).
  • The cadastral data for the connection.
  • The size of the sewer.
  • Size of the surface to be connected.
  • The maximum daily discharge.
After submitting the application:

After submitting an application for a sewer connection, you will receive a quote from the municipality as soon as possible. Once you have paid the amount specified in the quote, an appointment will be scheduled with you to determine the date of installation. As a rule, this takes place one to two weeks after payment has been made.
