The municipality maintains personal data on all residents in the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP). The municipality needs this information when, for example, you get married or when your passport expires. If necessary, the municipality may also share your information with other government agencies, such as the Tax and Customs Administration or the police, or with organizations such as pension funds and housing authorities. In most cases, you cannot have your personal information removed from the Basic Register of Persons (BRP). However, there are exceptions. You can only have data regarding your adoption, a child you gave up for adoption, or your gender reassignment removed from the Basic Registry of Persons ( BRP ).
