Honoring Notable Residents of Voorschoten

What is it?

In the “ centre ” in Voorschoten, across from the Kruispuntkerk and at the beginning of Schoolstraat, there is a memorial bench. It is a place to honor and remember notable and memorable residents of Voorschoten who have passed away.

Residents can nominate fellow villagers for this memorial bench. The municipality places plaques on this bench featuring the name and, if applicable, a photograph of the notable Voorschoten resident. Next to the name, a QR code is placed that links to the municipal website. There, you will find a more detailed biography. Here you can read what this person has meant to Voorschoten. In this way, we give these people (if surviving relatives consent) a lasting place in our society.

How does it work?

Would you like to honor a notable resident of Voorschoten with a commemorative plaque on the memorial bench? If so, you can submit a request to the “ executive board ” (Commemorative Bench Committee) of the mayor and aldermen.

Fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Clearly explain in your request:

  1. Who is this about?
  2. How was this person important to the municipality of Voorschoten?

Please note! The person to be honored must be of un behaviour . The review committee always verifies that the next of kin have no objection to the honor. The mayor and aldermen’s “ executive board ” (decision-making body) then makes a decision on the request.
