Increase in eHerkenning Assurance Level
Since September 18, 2018, residents and organizations have been able to use eHerkenning to log in to all government organizations within the European Union. Users could choose from various assurance levels: EH1, EH2, EH2+, EH3, and EH4.
EH3 as the Standard Reliability Level
With the implementation of the Digital Government Act (Wdo), new requirements are being imposed on the reliability level for logging in via eHerkenning. The EH1 reliability level is being phased out immediately, and the EH2 level is being gradually replaced. The reliability level for eHerkenning is being raised to EH3 as the standard reliability level. EH3 is characterized by the fact that users not only log in using two-step authentication, but personal identification is also required to obtain an account. This ensures a higher degree of security and reliability.
What does this mean for you?
Soon, it will no longer be possible to log in using levels EH1 and EH2. From then on, you will need EH3. Contact your eHerkenning provider for more information on how to increase the reliability level of your eHerkenning account.
