Important Information

If you volunteer, you may not always be adequately insured. That is why the municipality has taken out volunteer insurance. As a volunteer, you are automatically covered under this policy. This means you are insured if you have an accident or cause damage.

Good to know:

  • Volunteer insurance is also sometimes referred to as “safety net” insurance. It is a secondary form of coverage. This means that the volunteer’s own liability insurance—or that of the organization for which he or she is performing the activities—always takes precedence over the municipality’s volunteer insurance.
  • We recommend that you do not cancel your own insurance.

To ensure better and faster service, the municipality requires, at a minimum:
  • Details about the damage you sustained (time, location, etc.)
  • Any supporting documents you may wish to attach.

Please note!
  • This does not apply to volunteers who provide services through an organization. For example, when a volunteer and an organization connect via a digital platform and activities are performed.
  • If you are a volunteer with the fire department or police, you are not covered by this insurance.
  • You can file a claim with us if the damage is not covered by another property and casualty insurance policy.
