Important Information

Taking off from and landing an aircraft (such as a helicopter) is prohibited at any location other than an airport. If you wish to do so, you must obtain an exemption from the province. With an exemption, you may use a location other than an airport to take off or land.

Costs: There is no fee for notifying the municipality about the use of airspace.

Areas where drones are permitted to fly:

For security reasons, you cannot fly a drone everywhere. It is prohibited, for example, in areas around airports. You may fly in the unrestricted portion of the airspace. This area is not controlled by air traffic control. You can find the rules for flying a drone on the national government’s website.

The municipality kindly asks you to provide:
  • The location of takeoff and landing.
  • The type of aircraft.
  • Date and time of aircraft departure.
  • Day and time of aircraft landing.
