Important Information

Do you have a medical condition or disability that prevents you from walking properly? If so, you may be eligible for a disability parking permit. With a disability parking permit, you can park in designated disability parking spaces in the Netherlands and most European countries. Of course, you must still follow local parking regulations.

If you apply for a disability parking permit, a medical authority will assess your physical disability. The municipality determines which authority is responsible for this.

Fees: See the Fee Regulation

Good to know:

  • The parking card is issued in the name of an individual.
  • The Map is not registered.
  • You can use the Maps for any car.
  • The parking card is valid for a maximum of 5 years.
Types of Disability Parking Permits

There are 3 types of Maps:

  • Driver's License: If you have a physical disability but are still able to drive a car independently.
  • Passenger Ticket: If you have a physical disability and cannot drive a car on your own, you must rely on a driver.
  • Facility Card: If you are staying at a care facility, the facility may be issued a facility card.
  • Note: You can also apply for a combination of a driver's card and a passenger card. For example, if you are permanently wheelchair-bound.

Please note! Depending on the medical examination, the processing time is 6 to 12 weeks. Are you applying for an extension? You may need to undergo a medical examination, so be sure to reapply for the Map in a timely manner.
