VS-1014-1 Exemption for Serving Alcohol, Section 35 of the Alcohol Act, using DigiD

To serve alcohol, you need a liquor license ( licence ). In special cases, such as at an event, you may be granted an exemption. The following conditions ( Requirements ) apply:

• You are not permitted to serve and sell alcohol to minors under the age of 18.
• You are not permitted to serve and sell spirits (>15% alcohol) at the event.
• The person in charge of the alcohol:
  
  • is at least 21 years old;
  • is from behaviour.

Good to know:

• It must be a temporary exemption (for a maximum of 12 consecutive days).
• You may only serve low-alcohol beverages, such as beer or wine.
• To be eligible for the exemption, you need a Social Hygiene Certificate.

To ensure that your application is processed more efficiently and quickly, the municipality requires the following at a minimum:

• Date of the event.
• The location.
• The times at which you would like to serve alcohol.
• The company's contact information, if you are submitting the application on behalf of a company.

• This is a temporary exemption and is different from a liquor and restaurant license.
• To organize an event, you must also apply for an event permit (Form VS-2001).
